Dead heat

When runners tie, stake is shared across the tied positions, then full odds are paid on the reduced stake.

In a dead heat, your stake is divided by how many runners tied for the places you are paid on, then settled at full odds on that reduced stake.

Worked example

£10 at 6/1 in a two-way dead heat for first → £5 effective stake × 7 = £35 return.
