Each-way
Two equal bets: one to win, one to place at a fraction of the win odds.
An each-way bet is two bets of equal stake. The win part needs first place. The place part pays a fraction of the win odds (often 1/4 or 1/5) if the horse finishes in the paid places for that race.
Worked example
£10 each-way (total £20) at 10/1, 1/5 odds, 3 places. Win: £110. Place only: £30. Total if wins: £140.
